Main trends in the development of die castings

 

High-pressure die casting is a method in which liquid or semi-liquid metal is filled into the die-casting mold cavity at high speed under high pressure, and solidifies rapidly under pressure to obtain castings.

 

The usual pressure during die casting is 20-120MPa, and the initial filling speed is in the range of 0.5-100m/s. Therefore, high pressure and high speed are the fundamental differences between die casting and other casting methods, and are also its important features.

 

Due to the development of pressure casting, vacuum die casting, oxygenated die casting, semi-solid die casting, double-shot punch die casting and steel metal die casting have appeared and developed. In addition, the application of new technologies such as soluble core and ultrasonic waves in die casting not only expands the application scope of die casting, but also shows the broad prospects of die casting production.

 

The main trends in the development of die castings in the future are:

1. Die-casting machines should be serialized, large-scale, automated, and developed towards flexible processing units;

2. Die-casting molds should develop new materials to increase service life and new die-casting mold surface treatment technologies to reduce costs;

3. Die-casting technology adopts new non-porous die-casting technologies such as vacuum die-casting, oxygenated die-casting, slow injection and semi-solid die-casting, and extrusion die-casting, and a large number of concurrent die-casting production engineering (CE) and rapid prototyping technology (PM) are used to accelerate Market response speed and improve casting quality.
